Acoustic Nozzle
Noise Mitigation for Data Center Protection
The ANSUL acoustic nozzle is crucial to help safeguard equipment sensitive to sound such as Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). The nozzle may be used in ANSUL inert gas or halocarbon systems which are regularly used to protect room housing this type of equipment, but when discharged can produce sound levels that may be harmful to noise sensitive equipment. In the event of discharge, acoustic nozzles attenuate sound compared to standard nozzle designs. When used with the acoustic calculator, it is possible to estimate the sound power reaching the sensitive equipment, through algorithms that take into account the system flow rate, proximity of the nozzles to the sensitive equipment as well as the general construction of the protected space.
Features
- Engineered for noise reduction
- 360-degree discharge pattern
- Available in 1-1/2 in. (DN40) and 3/4 in. (DN 20) National Pipe Thread (NPT) sizes
- Available in 1-1/2 in. (DN40) and 3/4 in. (DN 20) British Standard Pipe Taper (BSPT) sizes
- Models available for use with ANSUL inert gas or halocarbon systems
- Tested and optimized sound output
- Drill diameter determined through a hydraulic flow calculation in the Suppression Design Center (SDC)
Benefits
Acoustic nozzles are designed to operate at a low decibel level that diminishes risk of sound damage to sensitive equipment
Understand HDD sound pressure impact with acoustic modeling based on nozzle sound output, HDD distance from nozzle, use of construction and sound absorption materials
The acoustic nozzle is designed to be installed in the center of the hazard and so that noise attenuation features do not interfere with effective suppression.
